Hi,
Anyone know why sometimes when I go to Namewinner to place a bid of $8.75 it says the high bid is $8 and I have to place a minimum of $25. Then when I place that $25 minimum bid it turns out I'm the only bidder and can remove the bid if I want. Is this a con trick to get us to place $25 bids as you can't even place an $8 in the first place? Or do I just not understand properly? If the latter please could someone explain it to me like my brain is the size of a grape.
Thanks.

I can place $8.75 bids, no problems. And so far NW did get me about 5 names for $8.75. If you can afford to waste $8.75, just bid on a crappy name like jvcnzx9kjdjf.org :D.

I think Dotster/NameWinner is a reputable company. It's just their system has various glitches sometimes. What you describe is probably some bugs in their system.

I think this happened to me once and i guess i find out why this is happening.

If someone bids on a domain for 8.75 and leaves the max bid proxy as "0", then when you try to bid on it it gives that answer.

So this means that someone has already placed a bid for 8.75 and max proxy bid is "0".You can place a $25 bid on that domain and be the "highest bidder".

Hope this will help you.
