i think its a good name, and worth the $600

I'm curious...did you have to haggle alot or did the buyer just quote you $600 and you agreed. I think $600 was a good price to pay.

Good acquisition for $600. The WHOIS still shows the prior owner, though.....

Its a corporation too, I doubt they would let that go for $600

Why would someone lie about this though?

people lie all the time about this sort of thing, just for the sake of bragging. Do you think that everyone who claims to have a Lamgorghini or Porsche really has one?

Yeah, my gut says that it's bogus :)

I looked at some of the DJ's other domains, and they all suck. It's quite a jump to go from from rich-people.biz to p2p.com!!

Other reasons that the buy is probably bogus:

* The owner has a very developed site. It is a company with several employees doing business as "Port To Print".

* I'm 100% sure that this domain could get $1-$2k on the spot.

* Who would be foolish enough to post this once-in-a-blue-moon buy before the transfer has taken place?

DJTestDrive is full of sh*t. I just emailed the REAL owner of P2P.com asking him ([email protected]) if the domain name P2P.com was for sale. This is Dan's response:

Good luck. We've had an offer for $125,000 plus 450,000 Shares of Common Stock in a venture, after reviewing the offer, we turned it down. Unless you're a serious "player", I don't think you'll have much luck.

Yours,
Jim Devine, Owner
Port to Print, Inc.

One thing I hope people are learning is that these are pros around here and are not easily impressed or fooled.

but...

p2p.com is a "real" business, it's not just a domain name. From the looks of it, it has at least 5 employees. When a domain name is attached to business, you can't really buy it without buying the business. And $125,000 + stock isn't that big of an offer for a small (medium-sized?) business.

when it's 450,000 shares it sure is a big offer... unless we're talking about a penny stock.

When a company like that is turning down $125,000 +, for the domain, you think they could afford a decent website. You look at that thing?, looks awful.

Poor DJTestDrive. He's going to have to get himself a new user name now.

Maybe he was just testing "appraisability" of the members.

As the admin for p2p.com, the domain is not sold to anybody. I got a chuckle from reading this thread earlier. The owners have considered lots of offers in the past, but $600 is pretty much a joke. They (the owners) got the domain name back in 95-96 and were just looking for a short, easy-to-remember name at the time. This was probably back before peer to peer was still not such a big deal. And yes our website is pretty much of a mess right now, we just haven't much time to re-do it. The owners seem to like it, and since they sign my paycheck, who am I to argue? :D

Ummm, maybe you need to get out more, but seriously, one of the people here emailed the link to thread to me. I found it vaguely amusing and replied to the thread. Never been here before, didn't even know this forum existed before today. Just thought I'd clear it up. No ulterior motives. Now go outside and get some fresh air.:D
