Hello,

I was wondering if anyone might be interested in partnering on development projects. I am an experience programmer, have handled very large database projects in the past, and have some resources at my disposal -- a couple of Linux dedicated servers, a decent amount of bandwidth, that sort of thing. I would like to work with someone who is good at the graphics and/or marketing/sales side of the business.

I am *not* interested in work for hire.

Please PM or email.

Well, the really major ones have gone down the drain with the dot.com crash... But if you are genuinely interested in discussion then please contact me directly with an introduction and I will send you more info.

Care to share your website address with us, if you have one?

Hmm, alright. The latest project I've build/run is www.neubauten.org, which is a subscription site for a band, that includes online downloadable shopping, integration with 2checkout credit card processing, a lot of streaming media, discussion forum, etc. I wrote all the code from scratch (in PHP, with mySQL database) except for webmail and java chat. It gets about 120,000 pageviews/day, more on the days when there are live webcast events.

I am not at all responsible for the graphics/design :)

Back when the dot.coms were going well, I was director of engineering at peoplelink.com, which was an instant messaging community (which they have since tried to make into a "business solution") that had a user database of about 800,000. If that helps to explain the size of database projects that I could manage...

x-post :)

I don't claim to be a great webmaster, I do claim to be a good programmer, and understand a great deal about scalability and so forth. I don't have much for URLs at the moment, other than the one above, because I have only recently decided that I'd done enough coasting on stock options and should get back to work, but I can still coast a little bit more so I would like to do something that is somewhat speculative and productive for the future, but not delusional.

i hope i didnt give the impression i was calling you a liar or anything

there are so many people on here who ask for free logos and when you start to do it you realise theyve decided to just sell the domain so its better to check first:)

i myself originally came from a programming background - c, fortran, matlab, java etc but recently i have been going to nightschool to improve my graphics as i want to improve my overall graphical skills

im starting to use flash etc and ive got a few domain names sitting about so we could work something out:)

2 questions.

1. Do you do perl/mysql or just php/mysql?

2. Do you have a full understanding of security implications and how to program to minise risks?

Drewbert:

1. Yes I do perl/mysql. Perl for about 8 years, mySQL for about 6.
Or C and C++, if the application warrants it. And I can do nifty things with Apache.

2. I like to think so. If you have specific scenarios in mind I am happy to discuss them.

Hi, tinnitus,

Please send me a PM with the details of what you have in mind and I might be able to show you a good Graphics Team with Flash knowledge also.

Thanks
