This may take a few days to show up .........

but from what i've seen and heard major players are leaving Pool.com because of their new auction system ?

People never learn in this game they always put greed before their customers.

All their affiliate customers ( including me ) are now going to suffer.

Time for Snapnames and Enom to bring out an affiliate and take away Pool's remaining customers.

I am using them a lot less now.
Only going for 5 or 6 names a month there.

Snapnames & Enom deserve some money to make up for POOL dominating the market for at least a year and turning everything upside down. But if they were really smart a year ago they would have done the same thing. Namewinner is really the only company that has remained stagnant.

I agree.
Whoever implements a good affiliate program will stay on the top of competition.

I suspect that this new stupid 50-step auction spend-all-day scheme is losing all the players A LOT of customers. It may be OK for the big players, but I'm not going to spend 12 hours a day overbidding so-so quality names, and I think the MAJORITY of buyers are with me on that.

I'm now spending 80% less than I did just a few months ago... I wonder how many others are starting to notice the same thing?

There aren't very many decent names dropping these days.
Vastly different landscape now than 1-2 yrs ago.

Never was a major drop player and did get drops every so often but stopped using Pool some time ago. The new auction system makes it far less likely I will ever return even if they stopped using all those schlock registrars that will not let me transfer or manage my names.

Not only are worse names dropping, but I notice people are paying $10k for stupid names like ruskcii.com. Might as well throw all that dough down Niagara Falls.

Companies like Pool only think about the bottom line. I suppose after all the negative talk about their new system combined with many lost customers they might have something to consider, but only if it is hurting that bottom line.

In this business when a drop service listens and responds to their customers, it goes a long way in building good will. Pool is alienating many people at this time so regardless
of that bottom line, it is doing great harm to their reputation in the market place.

If they care at all about these things, they better act quick because the jury has spoken and we are not happy with Pool at the moment.

Nobody wants to spend more than they have to and when you MUST be one of two high bidders to make it to the "challenger stage" naturally you are going to bid MORE
as to not risk being left behind. While it is obviously great for Pool, it is making their customers who spend thousands already on domains pay even more.

It is pure greed plain and simple and has severely tarnished their reputation..

I think Verisign should just cut off all RRP access from Pool registrars when .COM names drop in the first minute. Verisign has just filed a court action against ICANN for preventing the company from making money despite the $24billion they paid for the "rights" to play .COM registry to the world.

I suspect Pool did this on knowledge that Snapnames were going down the auction route. In order to maintain registrar support, they devised a system to ensure MORE MONEY would be extracted with their system.

I think this is the final reason why WLS must happen.

You guys saw the greed grow, but you said, down with WLS! That's monopoly. Someone is laughing to the bank now, and it definitely ain't stupid spender you.

I've used Pool just once with the new auction system and I did because the name was already in the backorer list and I passed to the 2-phase without increasing the $60 initial bid. I'm not going to make a blind bidding even if I'm very interested in the domain.

As long as pool keep catching the good names, and they have 2 customers left who have money, they will continue to produce a good bottom line. This is obviously a bit of an overstatement, but my point is, most of the customers they will lose because of their greed, are not big spenders who purchased alot of names anyway.

Yes there will be a lot less $60 names and niche names on pool's grab list everyday, but that willl just give them more power(increase their chances) to get high profile names each day. Which are the names that the big spenders want anyway.

I still play along, only because Pool produces results. Plus, I guess if people are leaving like you say they are, then my chances are better at Pool than elsewhere (or at least improving). Just don't bid over $60 in the first phase, and you may end up with a few beauties.

I have heard Elequa has stopped using Pool.com as of today because of their new auction system.

They just lost $$$,$$$ a month.

I believe BuyDomains has also stopped bidding.

All they have to do now is bid elsewhere and Pool will be history.
