HI, I am new here and a new webmistress. I have a gaming portal site that's been up for 4 mos. and doing well for this time frame I think. I am not sure where else to post this, but someone emailed me a letter to see if I would sell my site, I have no intentions of doing this, but of course money talks...can someone help me out here? Or tell me who to go to for this type thing? Here's the letter, and if this is the wrong forum to post this in, I appologize

Hello,
I found your contact info on your website
www.VideoPokerPlayer.com/contact.html

I have a client who would like to know if you would consider entering into
negotiations for the sale of your website. This is coming from a group who
doesn't really understand domain values, or site value in regards to design,
coding, etc., whereas we do this everyday and have worked in this industry
since 1994 and on the Internet side of it since 1998. We would appreciate
it if you could send us a reply, at your convenience of course, in regards
to this request. We have pre-estimated a value for the potential buyer and
would like to hear what you might consider for a starting offer, if you wish
to sell at all.

Thanks very much and I apologize for the direct email contact...a little
non-standard on our end. If you don't wish to consider any offers we
guarantee not to contact you again.

I visited your site but left quickly, so quick I can't tell you what color your site is. I hate pop-ups :( especially ones which take over your browser window.

Mike, sorry but that should be a popunder, and it's a traffic trade for GPWA members, I hate pop ups too, but unfortunately they do work. I have only seen it popunder, sorry about that.

revenue it generate.

Your website does have a good Alexa.com rating as well as positive reviews. Also, marketleap.com indicates that you have over 500 links pointing in to your site.

I wouldn't sell it cheap.

Depends on the decay rate for the traffic and the type of site. Rule of thumb(nails?) for adult TGPs with not many bookmarks is about 3 months revenue.

Your letter states: "We have pre-estimated a value for the potential buyer and would like to hear what you might consider for a starting offer, if you wish to sell at all."

What is the "pre-estimated" value. Ask, no insist on knowing.

If you are making $$ and growing, why be in a hurry to sell?

quack :D

I am not in any hurry to sell it, I never would of thought about it if it wasn't for the letter I received. I have another one ready to launch in a day or two so now I'm interested to see what they offer. I wrote them back and told them to make an offer to me, that I would let them know if I was interested at that point, believe me, I do not want to sell it. But we all know that money talks, so was just interested, if the price is right, I would have to consider.

Actually it is 12-15 months. Give or take a few months.
