Is it just me or ........

That domains are dropping at all times ?

The 2pm EST Drop is not consistent anymore ?

The best domains can be picked up during the day ?

Some whois records are updating within 4 - 5 hours ?

Thank you for shareing!

Power corrupts, and NSI has way too much power - and going after even more power.

The preperation period for the WLS is going to be "interesting" and I really don't think anyone outside of NSI will like it.

One of the things that came up in the general WLS discussions was talk that the batch drops would stop and that drops would be triggered by "some other means." To be determined.

The reason given for this was to balance the load processing WLS requests so that the Verisign servers did not have to run at 100% for an hour a day - they could be run at a more even rate.

I don't know if this is related and I'm trying to find the reference to see who said it and exactly in what context. When I find it I'll come back and post the link.

Strange things, sure.

example: aesculap.net

1. whois at 050228 GMT:

>>> Last update of whois database: Fri, 18 Oct 2002 17:02:19 EDT <<<
[whois.networksolutions.com]
Registrant:
WXXX, TXXX (QJOSBFZXMD)

Domain Name: AESCULAP.NET

2. whois at 090200 GMT

>>> Last update of whois database: Fri, 18 Oct 2002 17:02:19 EDT <<<

The Registry database contains ONLY .COM, .NET, .ORG, .EDU domains and
Registrars.

Domain not found locally, but Registry points back to local DB.
Local WHOIS DB must be out of date.

And it even DROPPED in the meantime.
Now it's mine :)

That is because NSI WHOIS lookups are not realtime. . .
