To be honest, many military analysts are exaggerating by nature. I remember reading some WWII history about the defense of Hong Kong by the British and Canadian army against the Japanese who were invading from the north. Many expected the famous (or infamous) "Eight Gods Ridges" (Pat Sin Leng) defense line to be holding for at least a week. The truth: it went down on the first day!

Having said that, TaiwanStraits.com is still a good, geographically generic name, and could be used for a mainland-taiwan trade info portal. Good luck.
