Transferring site to new owner

Sorry if this is in the wrong section but I'm looking to sell my website through a outbound sale. I was wondering what is the best way to transfer owner ship of the site. My domain is at Godaddy and is being hosted at hostgator if that helps at all. Many thanks in advanced.

Assuming you're referring to the contents, zip up your local copy and databases, if any, and transfer it to the buyer using some file-sharing service such as box.com. You can also email quite large files these days.

Thanks Theo. Should I set up a hosting account for them or should I let them worry about those steps themselves?

Well, that would depend on the agreement you had. Typically, it's good to assist people regardless of agreements but if it requires a lot of resources and time I'd simply point them to a variety of directions regarding hosting.
