I’d like to start my very first independent website development project, step by step, right here on this forum, hopefully with much-needed help and guidance from experienced folks here.

Although I’ve no/very little experience in website development I’ve decided to “Just do it” starting with one of my “premium” names in the new tlds, i.e. Broadband.info.

To start with, I’ve been thinking of putting up a relatively simple, primarily textual, website with some general info about the subject matter such as: Introduction and the history of broadband industry along with relevant news feeds, links , etc.

This is what I’ve done already:

I’ve obtained Front Page software.

I’ve a hosting company identified.

I’ve gathered some “raw” material for the introductory page; I’d hopefully be able to review, edit and come up with a draft version of the front-page content over next few days.

Not sure what'd be my next step (literally) when I've the material ready! i.e. How do I send it to the host?

I’d truly welcome and appreciate any input from the get go and will regularly post my progress/problems as I go along. If it works out well it’d not only be a great help to me but also to other newbies like myself.

Please be generous with your input.

Regards,

Riq

I know I've only posted once before, but I have been lurking here for a while.

The first thing you need to do is get get your hosting package set up. Make sure your host enables FrontPage extensions for your domain. Your host will give you a name and password which you need to publish your site.

I use FP2000 myself even though I realize there are much "more sophisticated programs" out there. It does take a bit of time to master. I've managed to get one of my recent sites to #1 in google and make some money. Now I am just transferring what I learned on that site to my "bigger and better ones"

Many of my sites are NON DOT COMS, so I applaud your effort to get a site going. I love developing domains where there is so much upside potential.

The coolest thing about FP is that you can just start slapping up stuff on a page and improve on it daily, bit by bit.

Focus heavily on using keywords and phrases that are highly searched for. Ask me if you need to know how to do this.

That is a great domain name to develop, BTW. Once you get your first page up, I'd love to exchange links with you on a couple of my sites.

Let me know if any of this helps.
