I have several domains on Name Winner that are soon to expire. I am the highest bidder on all of them. The bad thing is that they all have snap-backs on them through SnapNames.

My question is what are my odds on getting these names using Name Winner?

Please post my chances here or answer the poll. :D

My feeling is the success rate of NW dropped after their price drop, perhaps they are becoming "too" popular and overloaded. I guess you might have 10% chance. Good luck :).

i think it depends entirely on the name you are going after and whether it is snapped and who else is chasing it.

I've noticed with Name Winner, that the domains that NW gets (or that say pending) are the high bid ones....like $100 and up.....

I never really see domains grabbed by them that had an ending bid of $8.75.

Am I wrong?

Yes they still get 8.75 domains but really only if no one else was going after them. Some people bid just to bid on these b/c no one else is. They are not that hard to beat and they probably do save their firepower for the high bidded names then pick up the rest. Who knows!

I agree with kidkool. NameWinners grabbed quite a number of low profile names (without a snap) for me at 8.75, not bad :).

This reply/question is for my own education.
Shagy, if I understand, you have several domains that are not expired yet, where you are the high(only) bidder through NameWinner. These names all have snapbacks on them as well.

Are your bids $8.75 or do they have a higher proxy bid on them?

If the names are not expired yet, and someone has spent $49-$69usd on a snap, is it not safe to assume that when these names expire that the snapholder, or others will bid higher than $8.75 at NW during the expire/delete cycle? In other words, if the name is was worth $49-$69 at snapnames, would the same person or others not bid at least that at NW?

So I guess if your poll is, do I have any chance of getting a name through name winner where I am the highest(only)bidder, my max bid is $8.75, the name is not expired yet, there is a snapback on it, wouldn't the answer be no, as someone will probably outbid you after the name(s) expire and/or go into the delete cycle.

If your poll is, what are my chances of catching a dropped name if I am the highest bidder at NW when the name drops, then shouldn't your answer be "as good as the snapholder?"

I am not trying to be a smartass here, just trying to learn.

Cheers

Three names I had bid on in NameWinner became available early this morning, and as of now they're STILL available. They weren't really important to me so I was waiting to see when they would finally register them. I am going to go ahead and register them now with Enom.

We have all learned that it is not over with a drop until you see your name in the whois - it is not over until it is over.

It is impossible to access Shaggy’s probability of success because the auction is not ever over! How many times have you been sniped or sniped others at 12:59?

Good luck Shaggy

I think it really depends on the day with NameWinner. I've had good luck with them in the past, but on some days they just don't work at all.

I haven't even been able to log into the site today.
