I got hold of an expired domain. It used to be a pet supply store or something like that. Marketleap shows 736 backlinks to it, and Google shows 562 sites that containg the domain's URL, so I am getting 130 visits per day. I parked it about 3 days ago at domainhop.com to try it out, and I am getting a ctr of 5%, earning about $1 per day.

Is this good? What I like about domainhop is that they use a template that makes your site look a bit related to the theme of the domain, but is there another place where I could be earning more $? The backlinks are giving me nice free traffic, so I would like to get some profit from this domain, it cost me a 3 digit amount to get hold of it.

Thanks, I already visited your site a few times before, but I am looking for some personal experience here, people that have tried several parking places and can advise on which one seems to be the best.

Fryman,

You can PM me if you want more specific info than I have posted on PPCIncome.com.

Domainhop is probably a good place to park this domain until you figure what else you want to do with it, especially since the DH page looks more like a "real" website than most parking pages. You may experience declining traffic, no matter what. The real experts on link traffic might want to advise you, as I am more focused on type-in traffic.

$1/130 (unique??) visitors day => rpm=$7.69 That is not too bad, and about what one would expect for a random name with link traffic placed at DomainHop. You could test it at other PPC services, but the DomainHop page is more likely to retain your link traffic.

Have you experimented with different keywords at DH? You might increase your return with a slightly different keyword.

If you have the time and there is a suitable affiliate site, you could always try to convert this traffic that way. Returns can be great if you know how to do it. It really depends a lot on the domain. A domain with 130 uniques/day could be earning you $13/day (or more), if you can convert the traffic better. My highest individual domain rpm at DomainSponsor is $1000 (.i.e. $1 per unique), but that is out of hundreds of domains.

I have been with DS for about a year now and am starting to experiment with Fabulous. I have found that, so far, Fabulous works better with gambling and adult names, but DS is best for travel related names. As others have said, you need to experiment for a while and shift your domains around until you find the optimum parking service for a particular name.

Ultimately I believe that development is the best way to utilise any domain but parking is a great stop gap until then.

If you have not qualified for DS Premier, then you are not getting a lot of the income you should at DS. They use the Premier status to reward those with larger amounts of traffic. Personally, I would prefer it if DS would make everyone Premier. The Premier pages are a lot better looking, and more importantly, yield a much higher rpm.

Ed, do you know if you have Premier status at DS?

No I don't. Maybe I should ask them about it, but I haven't got large amounts of traffic.

You have to ask them for the agreement, FAX them some doc and it`s done.
Anyway Premier works good, but theyre new feature makes the best money for me.

Well, it never hurts to ask. Sometimes the support is a bit slow at DS. They are overloaded. Of course, you can always go out and acquire more traffic domains. That will get you qualified (I think that they are looking for 1000 ui/day for Premier).

Well... so far today the domain has been visited by 100 uniques, has a CTR of 10% and has made $1.50... seems good :)

I already have 7 websites and I am too busy building one related to Christmas, so it would be impossible for me to develop this domain. I guess I will just put it up for sale. Gets nice trafic, so anyone with good marketing skills could turn this into a very profitable site.

Thanks for all your help!
