I notice that many expired domains were snapped up
by ultsearch.com (by checking the DNS record in whois).

It doesn't seem to have an official web site.
I believe it owns thousands of domains.
I wonder what sort of business they are running.

There are zillions of posts about Ultsearch on this board. Perhaps more posts about them than anyone else except buydomains.

Rather than constantly rehash this everytime newbies join and ask about ult it would be much easier for all of us if you simply clicked on Search and searched for ultsearch.

Ults is a pain in the arse.

They don't seem to want to sell their names and prefer to see their value and PPC rate decline in hope that one day, the internet will exuberantly recover hahaha

Thanks for the reply.
I did do a search on this name and there were dozens of hit.
Many were talking about it but nobody gave a very clear idea what it is doing. Very hard to get a clear picture...

Here's my take. Ults is a PPC business based in HK that has over 300,000 domains that it uses for this purpose - besides being very aggressive expired name grabbers that is.

Right, however, no one could answer it well, who is ultsearch.com or what is ultsearch.com. They hide almost all of their informations and seems not to sell domains, just keep buying with unlimited funds. Yun ye is the only single human name associated with it?
Ultsearch.com looks like some kind of money laundry to me:rolleyes: :D

How do they make money? By traffics only????
And I know ultsearch.com and most of its domains are hosted in UK.

I wonder what sort of business they are running.

They acquire great domains and usually build PPC (pay per click) sites.

Sure. Overture seems to be doing profitably in this area.

Even his worse names?

I think search result is from findwhat.com
he must make money from findwhat.com
some keyword at findwhat.com cost $2-$3 per click
if he got 50% commisson about $1 per click
no bad for expire name only cost $8-10 per years

Whilst he has quite a few worth $5k or more, the majority are worth nothing like that, and will fetch a far smaller amount in terms of yearly advertising revenue.

So why not sell them for a reasonable amount to people / companies that could get considerable benefit out of them, increasing the chances that surfers to get to their intended destination, and increasing ultsearch profit at the same time?

Or perhaps he gets personally attached to his names?

He does take a lot of shitty names. Not sure why except they may run on keywords alone and not spend the time to look individually. figuring maybe the cost of checking them is greater than the cost of just buying and holding for a year.

Whatever

PPC results for lesser domains generally don't pay the renewal costs. At least in my experience.
