you're so vain
you probably wrote this thread for me...
hehe
it's a VANITY DOMAIN and it has a definite value
Now, here is a way to think of it
There's four names that look like GOD.com
GOD.com the real name
G0D.com a clever use of zero
G-O-D.com a clever use of two hyphens
G-0-D.com a clever use of zero and hyphens
what are these names worth?
Well GOD .com has very little commercial value, unless you are in the religion business.
You think it is worthless to say Billy Grahm or some bible publisher?
So any of you experts want to put a value on GOD.com
How about this YOU CAN'T there is only ONE GOD.com and it is worth WHATEVER THE OWNER WANTS FOR IT
I'm sure if the owner wanted to sell several religious groups would appear and you're talking about possibly 100 Million for a non-commercial name
Yes 100 Million is the pie in the sky value that it could be worth
Now let's say Billy Gates wants the name, will he part with say ONE BILLION to own GOD.com?
Maybe
Now outside of GOD.com what are the rest worth?
Would the owner of G0D.com (zero in middle) sell for say a million?
Probably not
Would anyone pay one million for it?
Probably not
So what is the value?
It's one of those domain that whoever owns it will probably never be happy with what someone will pay for it.
But I would say it could indeed fetch 1 Million if it ever was offered for sale
Now what about G-O-D.com? Maybe the owner will sell maybe not. I bet the owner says at least 100K for it maybe more.
Will anyone pay that for it? Probably not but the owner probably doesn't intend on selling.
Then there is G-0-D.com my domain
Sure I'll take offers but I know no one will offer me what I want.
What is GOD.com used for? The url hasn't been active for all the years I've tracked it. Yet it has a 500K Alexa rating.
G0D.com forwards somewhere
G-O-D.com is a business acronym for a UK company
And my domain goes to a page that says make me an offer
So what has the most powerful domain name in the vocabulary been used for so far?
GOD.com goes no where
G0D.com forwards
G-O-D.com is a business acronym in the UK
G-0-D.com goes to me
So if you want to OWN one of the few domains that LOOK like GOD.com you can send email to a person who owns GOD.com and who most likely hates GOD since he keeps the doman off line
You can ask the forwarder what they'll take for G0D.com
You can ask a business in the UK to give up their website
Or you can make me an offer
As much as some of you hate to admit it, IT HAS A HUGE VALUE to me and if anyone else wants such a vanity religious name THEY HAVE TO MAKE OFFERS to those who own the name
Few have the budge for GOD.com, I dont' and I'm worth a fortune
I could probably make a deal for G0D.com but why waste that much money for it
I doubt the UK Co. is selling their business web site
I own the fourth, it's fine and I love it
I don't use it
And I have gotten tons of offers on it
So it has an obvious value
