Hello Nora,

This new "Domain Acquisition Service" of yours is going to create problems for everyone!!

You cannot receive a fee beforehand from a potential buyer to help facilitate the purchase of any kind of item and then expect to get a commission from both the buyer and the seller!!

If you really want to double your income on these types of transactions, then setup a separate company with completely DIFFERENT owners to represent buyers and you might then be able to pull it off. Otherwise, you're in conflict of interest territory and you will be sued. (Not by me of course but by someone seeing an easy target and a guaranteed quick reward!)

Just so you know that at least GreatDomains is doing the same thing, by acting as the agent of BOTH the registrant AND the buyer.

I don't see any problem with it if all parties involved agree to it. Happens in real estate all the time.

Hello everyone,

We have been offering the domain acquisition service for some time.

Here's how it works:
The buyer orders a domain acquisition service for $49.
For that $49 (s)he gets:
- A premium appraisal of the domain in question (worth €39)
- Trademark research
- Negotiation with the domain owner to try and negotiate a sale
- Monitoring of the domain's registration status on a daily basis
- Domain Transfer in the event of a successful acquisition.

When the buyer offers the appraised value, we have a 70% success rate in acquiring the domain.
If Sedo is not successful in acquiring the desired domain, there are absolutely no fees beyond the initial $49.
We charge a 10% commission to the buyer in the event of a successful acquisition.
This commission covers escrow and transfer costs.
We do not represent the seller - we approach the seller on the buyer's behalf and the seller is not liable for any costs unless (s)he has the domain in question listed for sale in his/her Sedo account.
If this is the case, the seller is liable for the 10% commission; not the buyer.

I hope this helps to explain the situation a little better - I realize that the description of the service on our homepage can be a little ambiguous.

If anyone has any other questions regarding this, or any other Sedo service, please feel free to email us directly.

Kind Regards,

Nora Cotter
