Microsoft seeks $100,000 per domain name

it seems to me that the companies are going only after the bigger typosquatters...and the biggest of domainers happen to have some typos atleast (just look at the names wanted section to see people who STILL want typo portfolios).

How many typos do you think Frank Schilling has in his 300,000 portfolio? Or Kevin Ham for that matter?

Am I guilty? With more than 4000 domain names, you betcha. Have I been caught? You betcha. Not a MicroSoft issue. But I complied with the request from the legal office representing their client to drop the names. It was a no brainer as it was a blatant violation and I knew it.

I respect people like yourself who are honest with themselves and not afraid to admit what their doing is wrong.....Unlike these diehards who continue to make excuses and attempt to justify it, such as blaming it on the TM holder for not registering the thousands of typo variations to protect his mark.

Years back, I remember grabbing this "Olympic" domain on a drop, not knowing "Olympic" was trademarked mind you, After researching, I quickly learned it was on a list of hundreds of domains being filed in a TM lawsuit by the Olympic committee, once I found this out, I changed the DNS to a black hole and let the domain expire, why? I'm not willing to accept the risk, but many people are, and they get what they deserve.

The Tomb Raider domain; That was last year and this is now, you wont find a domain in my portfolio that is currently infringing on a TM.

Since joining this Forum over a year ago I learned quite a bit and completely changed my outlook on the way I view TM's, but many on this Forum have not and they have been here much longer than I have, What I see a lot of here, is the buying and selling of youtube or myspace domains, I even saw one of the American Red Cross, yeah lets squeeze some blood out of them.......

I believe you are entitled to any domain you want unless the company asks for it, at which point you should give it to them if warranted. And I also believe they can pursue whatever action they want against you as law provides..this is the circle of business and life.
