Yes, KT is an acronym. Yes, acronyms can certainly be trademarked. Examples are KT, AT&T, TM, and others. Generic dictionary names can also be trademarked, have you heard of a little company called Apple
trademarks based on acronyms or dictionary words are generally considered weak trademarks, in that they are harder to defend and harder to register and may offer less legal protection for the company. Of course all bets are off when you are Apple.
