Usual FAQ:

Will I sell off individual names? No. This is difficult because then, who gets the trademarks? Tricky.

What kind of traffic are they getting? Well, they're parked at SEDO, so who knows what's really going on. I can supply data, but it's really not that great. This portfolio was built as a branding machine, for development, not parking revenues.

Why haven't you developed them yourself? I published a magazine for 14 years called Villas, and it burned me out. Now, I'm involved in a huge Internet project that is taking all my time and resources. I'm finished in the "villas" world. Let someone else make the money.

Why do registered trademarks add value?
Aside from the protection they grant to the owner, TMs are especially important for the domain industry. The entire UDRP process is based on trademarks, and one's probability of prevailing in a UDRP claim, either as Claimant or Respondent, is greatly enhanced for the trademark owner. Whenever there is a launch of a new TLD, there is also a period of time before the general landrush for TM holders to secure the name first. I have been successful in securing VILLAS.(whatever) in 6 out of 6 Trademark Sunrise applications, with my registered TMs. Do these Spanish and European Community TMs have as much force as the US trademark? Of course. From a legal standpoint these marks are just as important, especially in our domaining industry. Most domainers believe that the only trademark that counts is the USPTO. Nothing could be further from reality. USPTO is not the center of the universe. Trademarks have global effect.

Some of these domains are not worth a whole lot. Yep, that's right...in fact, they suck. But there are many that are worth a lot. Buy the portfolio for the value that's there, and let the rest drop if you don't want them. One man's trash is another man's treasure.

Will you lease/rent? No.

Will you joint venture? No.

Will you grant an option to purchase? Well, yes and no. With an option to purchase, you put up a non-refundable deposit; so if you bail I keep the deposit. If you're just on a fishing expedition to test my price sensitivity, you don't want to lose your ante just to see my cards, do you? I wouldn't. BUT If you come to me with a solid proposal, and you need some time to put together the finances, or a group of investors...then yeah, I'll gladly help you out.

May I broker them for you? Sorry, nothing personal. I've had it with the "brokers" who are more interested in selling their own properties than they are in selling mine. Having said that, you bring me a buyer, I'll pay you a commission when we complete, with pleasure. But I won't sign any exclusive brokerage contract. I will sign a limited finders fee agreement WHEN you have the buyer in place — and the buyer may remain anonymous if this helps you.

May the new owner of Villas.com tie me up in a UDRP or make any claim against me? Nope. We both agreed to a "live and let live" contract that specifically precludes any form of legal claim against the other, now and indefinitely, that is binding on our heirs, successors, and assigns. In other words, "live long and prosper." May I see that agreement? You can see it as a condition of a bona-fide agreement to purchase, after a deposit has been paid. Otherwise, no, because it is part of an NDA. Sorry.

So, what's the price? I'm looking in the region of EUR 50k; but try me, you might catch me on a good day. Escrow.com. Full price, I'll pay escrow and TM transfer fees. Otherwise, buyer pays.
