My laugh for the day. Yesterday I had an inquiry on one of domain names via my domainnamesales parked page. I have it set up for a broker to handle the inquiry & a mid-range 5-figure price quote was made to them from my suggestion. It's a short one-word name I've owned since 2001.

I check on the status this morning in my DNS backoffice & see the inquirer stated this to my broker after we made the offer.

------------
"Good but Larry Wentz wants to sell me it for $10.

So if you want to earn money, I can pay it $20.

Does it sound good ?"

------------

I then check my email & see the inquirer emailed me

_________
Hello Larry Wentz,

I would like to buy your domain name ------.com. Would you want to sell me it ?

Thanks.

_________

My response email to them -

-----------
"You do realize I am in full contact with my broker who you just lied to. No - I won't sell you the name."

I also have had this happen. I believe it's just the lack of experience that results in this kind of behavior, and If the guy is low balling you, forget about him.

A good reply is :

I would like to buy your house?

So if you want to earn money, I can pay it $20.

Does it sound good ?"

" I have daughter in jail and my UK lawyer will deposit 1 million dollar to you "
(419scammers )

That would have been just as bad but funnier

When I get stupid inquires "Oh I see your not using your domain..." or "I wanna buy blah blah domain (worth $$$$+) for my son.." the hardest part is NOT REPLYING. I always wonder "Maybe it's the CEO of a fortune 500 company calling?" or "Maybe the son's father is a multi-millionaire!"

But it NEVER is. But then I hear the stories on the forums about the $20 offer that turned into $XXXXX!

So, I WASTE MY TIME AGAIN! ARRGH!
