Anyone have a guess as to what Affilias has in mind for all these great Sunrise TM fraud names? Some expired back on July 25th. It's still funny going thru the whois on these, except for the thought of the money lost by domainers during the fiasco. Still would like to know how they got slipped by the LR2?

Any legitimacy in any of this sample?

SD all these names r back to the people who had them..
i talked to a guy who has like 8-10 names in this status. he told me that there was some restriction that he could not sell the names till 2006 July.. and now the restriction is no more..

.info sunrise has been and remain a deep fraud and mystery by corrupt AFILIAS

They all still look frozen, renewals are restricted, and the expiration dates remain long overdue.

Also, I'd still like to know how the registry let these other names get renewed among so many other baloney TMs.

m o v i e s.info is in the same situation.
the funny thing is that I own the domain listed in the whois and , in theory, I could request a password change at the registrar and login to the account.
I received at least 3 offers for m o v i e s.info so far, but while I can't say that I'm not tempted to at least change the NS, I won't do it.
I reported the situation to afilias a loooong time ago, and they chosed to ignore me and TO EXTEND the name for one more year.
whatever they doing, it just doesn't look right- the TM wich was used to register the domain doesn't seem to exist

sounds almost as bad as the whole .eu scam with stolen data etc... , as soon as some new guy in charge thinks he can make some money conficating or "reserving" domains they are gonna do it, and if nothing helps you can always come up with a new tld like mobi and run the same scam again

Isn't it amazing that with all the corruption in this "no enforced rules / self regulated" industry that there is NO representation of the public/registrants/domainers at ICANN, yet it was this group that ICANN was established to serve in the first place?

We still get hit with a tax of 25 cents per name to ICANN.

We need to rally behind "No taxation without representation"

Amazing how the registry can get away with answers that make no sense. The point is that they are all fake TM/false sunrise domains, and we're asking what the heck they intend to do about it.

Also, wouldn't you expect an answer from someone with a title of "Registrant Relations" instead?

I dont know about the other domains, but at least stocks.info is parked, so someone is making money...the sad part is, most of those fake TM people and rcorrupt registrars keeping the domains hope nobody is gonna notice, and even if, nobody can do anything either because the people at iccan are as corrupt as they get as well...

Yeah, obviously ICANN and Afilias are aware, and let this stuff go on. Afilias top people were involved in gaming the system themselves, so it's not surprising that they want this covered up and to go away.

As noted above stocks.info is parked, and the guy who put in the fake trademark (Stephen Rumney) is making money with it even today. He admitted the scam as far back as December 2001.

"We ended up with a lot of absolutely fantastic names," Rumney said. The list included porn.info, business.info, loans.info, sports.info and health.info -- all terms that would have been either extravagantly costly or impossible to get in the dot-com domain.

Rumney admits, however, that he skirted the rules to get what he got. To snap up names before the others, he says he took part in an early registration procedure that was intended to be open only to trademark holders. Although he knew he didn't have trademarks for the domains, he reasoned that probably no one else did, either.

Moral of the story, don't think ICANN or the registries are looking out for the interest of the public.
