Your making the same mistake most new domain buyers make. Stop buying nonsensical keyword domains and purchase one or two domains with real meaning.

> comtraception.com < looks like a good typo but time will tell.

go to namenewbie.com and read up on domaining.

no knockouts but the best ones are:

getrichfrom.com
marketmymobile.com
pokerfunctions.com
pokerparcel.com
puffinpoker.com
uberholidays.com
vidnode.com

maybe try to look for some Glasgow or Scotland related domains, since you probably know a lot about that area.

and the biggie, pick a domain you like and build a website for it. If you learn to do it once then you can build more sites and develop more domains, which is a good way to success nowadays. Again, maybe build a hotel or real estate or tourism directory for a city in Scotland, because getting the info will be easier for you. good luck!

Well which ones don't make sense? Alot of them make sense to me :s

I intend to build sites out of some of these. I'm a computer scientist after all :)

Thanks for the advice folks!

Any name can be successful with development but names like those will need development to be successful. The point is, the best names are those that need no development, they have direct type in traffic based on their quality.

I would consider all those names reg fee or less IMHO.

You are brave to ask, many will never ask and because you ask you will be better for it. Keep plugging away.

Paul

Thanks for your input Paul. As I said, I'm not bothered if they are all regfee. I'm just trying to learn. I do intend to develop several of those. Freepicfx.com might be next - a nice set of java applets to apply image effects. Wavemypic.com just sold for like 1k$ on Sedo lol.

You bring up a great point, on Sedo I see some funky sales all the time. Funky to me, of course. Any name is worth whatever a buyer is willing to pay for it so I could put an asterisk next to all my evaluations for simple fact that the number of possible end users in the world is endless for any given name. Use the radio test.. would you remember any of the names an hour after you heard one mentioned in an advertisement?

How fraking annoying would it be to tell someone your email address and then have to spell the name?

Remember that everyone has their own opinion. A name that one person would only pay reg fee for could sell for $xxx from someone else. It all depends on the end-user and what they plan to do with the name.

Radio advertisement:

"Anyone can get rich from dot com! Find out how at richfrom.com"

I think I'd remember that ;-)

Just need to find someone who wants to buy it now!!

You're probably right about most of the other ones though. Maybe pokerparcel.com could be a good poker gift site "Get your parcel of poker stuff at pokerparcel.com today!"...

Thanks for the encouragement folks!

FYI- Your SEDO account will be banned by placing links to your parking sites ie: RichFrom.com

Those domains will need to be developed to have any worth, IMO. Welcome to domaining! Keep reading and look at sales to see what the market's like. You'll get the hang of it.

every time you "reg" a name, it's only worth "that" amount until....

a. it gets some traffic

b. it gets some traffic and revenue

c. you get some offers

if you keep them another year (renewal fee's) then they will worth 2x's reg fee, plus whatever amount you can convince someone to buy it at.

if any of a,b, or c above applies, then it will help to convince potential buyers.

however, you must have enough knowledge to place value based on other criteria as well.

that could include frequency or growth of the subject, on it's way to mainstream. some clue you picked or term that sparked a thought.

to others, at the time of your request, they may seem irrelevant or too far out the box. two years later, after you let them expire....some other domainer gets a couple of them and flips for tidy profit.

since you say, that you got skills, then building your ideas souldn't be a problem. the problem is which to build and which to dump.

build them all or dump them all...

this is not an appraisal, but imo "domesticargument com" is very good name

if you decide to start a project, start with that first.

These don't make sense - not to me anyway.

pokerfunctions.com - what is a poker function?
pokerparcel.com - a parcel of pokers?
puffinpoker.com - ?
uberholidays.com - mixing languages rarely works
vidnode.com - ?
wepkeygen.com - ?
xxreg.com - ?

Hope it helps.

I agree that these names don't make sense really. The combos are just odd.
A good name should speak for itself, here we have to wonder what the name can possibly mean or be used for.
The best is to put yourself in the shoes of an end user and register names that can be used for business purposes. I don't think any of these names have the potential to sell to an end user. Either develop or drop :)

My thoughts behind these names

Well, poker functions, like poker events. Most hotels have a function room. It's a corporate hospitality name. Casino nights and that kind of thing.

PuffinPoker is just a name that has good alliteration. Other names like PopeyePoker might be memorable to players.

I guess using the word uber is a Scottish thing :-)

If you wordtrack "wep" all the searches are for cracks and keys. A wep keygen is a new concept I guess, not getting any traffic on it though so I guess it sucks lol.

VidNode is something that I would develop as a node linking to videos. You could say youtube is a video node.

I appreciate you folks sharing your thoughts with me, they have helped to boost my understanding and appreciation of perspective.

Sure you had an idea in mind when registering these names. But I'm not sure anyone other than you would see what you are seeing in these :)
Anyway, if you are going to keep them to develop it doesn't matter so much if they are not outstanding. If you are looking to resell then you need to be very selective. After all only a tiny fraction of domains in existence do sell :)

Thankyou for your posts people. Has been very insightful.
