authorization code requirements

I'm having a problem transferring domains for a friend from 1and1 to a "normal" registrar

Does anyone have any specific information regarding dot tv and dot mobi?
Are authorization codes required to transfer these?
1and1 insists that they aren't required, while Dotster insists that they are...

Even though I'm not a fan of 1and1, I think they might be right.

They'll need to go into their domain manager, select the domain and then click "info"

That will give them the auth code.

(Also make sure that they're unlocked)
