In last Saturday night's auction I won step.us from member arnotts2001. Transactions are supposed to be completed within 24 hours but he has failed to answer all of my PM's and emails or to contact me.

I notice he just joined prior to the auction scheduled Jan. 18 (and later rescheduled for Jan. 25). He has never made a post here. It is becoming apparent to me that he joined the forum to enter the auction, with no intention of delivering the name unless he got the price he wanted rather than his minimum bid.

I also noticed that his second name was won by a member named marcial, who coinincidentally also joined at about the same time and has never made a post here. I PM'ed him and asked if he was able to contact Arnotts2001. No response from him either. Possibly a second ID arnotts used to shill on his own auction for founder.us?

In case you run across this individual again, you may want to think hard about trusting him. His WhoIs info says he is
Arnotts Trueman of San Francisco - [email protected]

If Mr. Trueman reads this I hope he will take care of this matter rather than throw away his reputation for a few bucks.

Duke I hope you didn't have your heart set on that name. Doesn't look like you'll be getting it. The 2 members you mention appear to be linked. I have deleted their accounts.

Thanks for ditching them GregR. No, the name was not a big deal. It is amazing how little value people put on their reputation though.

So keep your $10 name Trueman Arnotts of San Francisco, email address: [email protected],
owner of step.us and founder.us to name at least two we know of. Good luck getting anyone to deal with you in the future. You can now list deadbeat seller and shill bidder on your resume. Your mom will be proud. :)

I have to comment.
For me, personally, I am outraged that a business "contract" was entered into and then reneged ... without so much as even ONE e-mail response! I am embarrassed for this individual, Mr. Trueman ... to say nothing of a potential plot to manipulate (shill) an auction. Despicable, IMO.
I'm sorry that you lost the domain, Duke ... but I think this thread is an affirmation by both management at DNForum, and its membership that this behavior will NOT be tolerated.
So, Mr. Trueman, you have made history ... officially, as the first individual elected to the DNForum "Auction Deadbeat Club" (ADC).
Finally, here's to having a very SHORT LIST here in this thread for years to come!
Thank you for alerting the membership, as well. :)
Take care.

Yep, he made history...and he is history. Less than 20 minutes from the time of my post Mr. Trueman went to the gas chamber. Hope this serves as a deterrant to others who wander over here after their Deadbeats Anonymous meeting (Sorry, no 12-Step program here, one strike and you're out).

Also, the local chapter of the American Shillbidders Society should look for a new meeting place (I think a conference room is now available at the DomainSage Corporate Center). :)

Sorry to hear that Duke, thanks for the heads up, hope you have better luck this weekend.

ATTENTION:
Member "mastmnds" is NOT a deadbeat!! He's good to go. :)

However, we ARE working on potential auction deadbeat, "ComputerGuy" ... please stay tuned!

PS. We HAVE to make an effort to keep THIS "ADC" thread up to date!
Thanks, everybody! :)

Both step.us - #21 and founder.us - #22 are offered by ferdz for this saturday's auction.

FERDZ!! This guy is already notorious for stiffing me and other people in the sales threads. Now what the hell kind of scam is this guy running NOW!

Arnotts2001 sold both of these domains last week (I got step.us) and he never delivered. Gregr deleted his account as well as a second account that appears to have been a shill bid on founder.us.

Now here is Ferdz showing up one week later to sell the exact same domains (even though the WhoIs remains exactly the same)!! So it appears Ferdz is Arnotts2001 and Marcial. Cretins like this seem bent on wrecking trust in the forum auction. I am really fed up with this clown and other deadbeats like him.

In case you noticed your computer screen flickering...that was Ferdz sizzling on the DNF Electric Chair.

Thank you for spotting those names in the auction Llew. The bodies are piling up down at the DNF morgue. I hope the shysters take a break this weekend. GregR had to send his executioner's mask out to be dry-cleaned after working overtime in it this week.

The electric bill is going to be outrageous on the chair this month !

I agree with the need to police shills, and shucksters. I think maybe a 5 day grace period is probably in order though, just in case someone has a network or computer problem, or health or business problem that keeps them away a couple days.

...But when the evidence comes in that it's not an "innocent" MIA seller, then then I like the posting of the real names and contacts with the evidence (good idea to submit the page to google, too), and boot them outa here.

What we really need is feedback ratings like ebay, instead of the DN$, but that's probably a cmplicated mod... Maybe all DN$ of deadbeats gets spread among the victims who didn't get their purchases as well.

Maybe you have to have so many DN$ (50?) to add an item to the auction list (not to purchase though). This might keep out sellers who no one here is familiar with until they make some posts to establish a reputation here.
