I agree Duck, that's why even with domains historical data is used to determine fair market prices for domains.

Seems like .eu might become a lesson for us all. By buying every possible brandable name out there we might have hijacked our own business. We highly discourrage end users from developing websites by taking all of the good names and then ask for astronimical sums from them in order to give them the name they want.

Good point. Imagine the first 6 months of .eu all that the real customers can find are parked pages and for sale signs. How quickly would you stop shopping at a store that was closed every time you went there?
