Ex-Microsoft domain manager accused of stealing $1M

Carolyn Gudmundson, who was responsible for managing and registering Microsoft's Internet domain names between 2000 and 2004, has been indicted on allegations of stealing more than $1 million from Microsoft and Expedia, according to court papers and a statement released today by the U.S. Attorney in Seattle.

Employee theft has long been a problem for Businesses, Background checks help but they don't eliminate the problem, I read stories where employees milked their employers for hundreds of thousands of dollars over several years, going completely undetected. We don't hear too much about it unless a well recognized corp. like Microsoft is effected..... Makes me wonder how much attention this would be receiving if it was a no name company.
