crazy sale. i don't know why someone would pay so much for it and then just forward it to another horribly designed site. anyways, the only reason it sold for that price is due to f*ckbook.com being a huge adult site. gaybook.ca has little to no value in this scenario. there is no gaybook.com.

I'd suspect it was the guys at the .com who bought it. It's big business, and the nature of this type of site being very "local" necessitates a "local" TLD to address the clientele of a particular country.

That's just how I feel as a Canadian, anyway.

I guess some websites like to have their 'word' or 'term' in every decent domain extension, to show that they own their brand.

Another example of this is the Plenty of Fish dating site. They bought many country codes for their acronym, POF. pof.ca, pof.de, pof.co.uk all point to their .com site.
