gambling.com looks to have been sold a few days ago for 20M
nobody heard about it?

This is great news - but still a deal for the buyer in my humble opinion.

Q. How much land in Vegas will 20M buy?
A. Not a whole lot (prime location).

What a deal.

you'ld think the possible largest domain sale ever would attract a little more hype...

well, yea.. but the guys bought out that whole "company" who just ran gambling.com

The board of Gaming Corporation plc, owner of the UK gaming website www.casino.co.uk, has announced the acquisition of Newbold Enterprises Limited, the holder of Gambling.com...Online casino portal, Gambling.com, has provided casino, poker, and sports betting search since 1997. Income is primarily generated through pay per click advertising where clients bid to reach higher rankings in the search results, a model used by other search companies such as Google and Overture....Gambling.com's proprietary technology includes an International and UK specific pay per click bid management search engine. This allows advertisers to create and self manage their search listing campaigns from online deposits through to bid management and real time reporting....Like all the major pay per click search engines, Gambling.com uses complex algorithms and strict editorial to maximize efficiency for advertisers and end users alike. This technology can be licensed to operators in other industries giving them the opportunity to create their own destination search sites.

Domainers are 5 days behind. From the horse's mouth:

http://www.xworks.com/press.asp?y=2005&id=197

It was more than just a pure domain name sale --- as analyzed on the other big domain forum, a lot of the value is due to the incoming links and the 200,000 double opt-in emails. Compare the Overture rating implied traffic with the Alexa ranking implied traffic, and this will be evident.

Still, positive news for gambling domain owners (my own gambling domains have a higher combined Overture than gambling.com). Makes casino.com look like an even bigger steal @ $5 million (higher Overture and Alexa, by a huge margin).

DNforum predicted it with the thread on how long will it be until the big million $ sales?
