Investors are likely to see much higher valuations. GoDaddy has finally launched its updated GoValue domain appraisal system. Updated appraisals are currently available individually with a daily limit. Over time, GoDaddy will introduce the new values in the GoDaddy search path and provide them in account interfaces. As a general rule, the new values are […]

https://ph.godaddy.com/domain-value-appraisal/appraisal seems to me very accurate for .com domains - just checked a couple .com names - very very reasonable.

.. checked a cp.be of mine... I think it got it wrong estimating $4505.. though, they have more data than we do :)

great job @godaddy!! .. it would be awesome if you did display some data about the domains that are appraised, so buyers see why the value is like this.

The main confirmed difference is the valuation ceiling/output behavior.

  • Previous model: strong domains were effectively compressed. For years, very high-value names were shown as “$25,000+”; shortly before this rollout, some were instead labelled “too high to estimate.” That made the tool especially unhelpful for premium one-word.coms and other six-/seven-figure names.
  • New model: it is now returning actual figures above $25,000, including reported seven-figure estimates. So the biggest practical change is that premium names can receive a differentiated numeric value rather than being capped or grouped together.
  • Likely result: many investor-quality names will show materially higher appraisals, particularly names that the previous system undervalued because of its ceiling and stale market calibration.
  • Rollout: the updated appraiser is presently being released for individual lookups with a daily usage limit. GoDaddy is expected to add the new values into domain-search results and account interfaces later.

What has not been publicly explained: GoDaddy has not provided a technical before-and-after breakdown of the new engine. We do not yet know whether it uses a different model architecture, which new data sources or sales periods were added, how it handles.ai/new gTLDs, whether its sale-probability estimates changed, or whether wholesale/list-price ranges changed.

The old GoValue was machine-learning based, trained on historical domain-sale data and name-level signals such as words, characters, TLD, related TLD usage, and sale context. The new tool may retain much of that framework, but it would be speculation to claim a specific AI/model upgrade without GoDaddy publishing it.

Bottom line: this looks more like a major recalibration and removal of the high-end ceiling than a fully documented methodology change—at least for now. Higher GoValues should still be treated as a screening signal, not as proof of a retail sale price.
