what does google pagerank means exactly?

and how important is it for a domain and/or a website?

My knowledge of the Page Rank is that its determined by the number of inboune links and content on the page.

I would say that its quite important to have. A good PR is anything about 4/5

and how to raise the page rank? add more links to your website or point more domains to your website?

Doesn't work like that! You need more inbound links, ideally from a site that is on the same sort of theme as yours. I have one inbound link to one of my sites from a site that has a PR5 and its now given me a PR1.

I know i'm kinda outing myself here and it might sound dumb as hell - but what kind of pagerank is actually considered to be good?

Or in other words - what's better: a PR1 or a PR5 ?

PR10 is Good, PR1 is not so good.

A link from a PR4/5 site is a good enough one to get!
