Has anyone else received a notice that Verisign intend deleting one of their IDN's ?. I received following today (I have anonymised the domain itself) ;
The Registry has advised us that they will be deleting the below IDN domain
from your account:
xn--XXXX.com
This domain will be deleted on approximately the 6^th of July, 2011 and we
will credit your account with a refund for its registration.
The decision to delete it relates to a new standard that the Registry has
adopted. RFC 5891 applies to Internationalized Domain Names in Application (IDNA) and you can read more about it here:
([1]http://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc5891.txt). In compliance with this
standard, Verisign implemented filters to block future registrations of
disallowed strings and is deleting domains that already exist in conflict
with the standard.
I am not too worried as is only one domain but would be interested to know
if anyone else has been effected ?.
