Well, I have run across A LOT of names used this way, not surnames like this but just generic 5-6 fig names with no tie to the person but a family member uses it for that... one is 666.com for example.
Another was a good generic the guy used to remember his wife who passed from cancer, have to find it.

Truly sad and very moving, it really makes me sad to read that site and I actually cried when I randomly came across it web surfing one night. I emailed the husband a long time ago to offer my condolences. Life is very precious, & short.
His domain is NOT for sale so don't even ask the guy. Seriously.
