Thought this was a hoax but its made the national papers here and I was just sent the link to the chat transcripts so i'm not sure

I dont think its a hoax i have seen the same article in several papers. I first saw it on drudge report. Pretty sad they way they actually cheered him on like that.

Yup.

But its a tad extreme perhaps how his family have turned it into a crusade against the internet. surely the net doesnt make drugs addicts like that... i mean they don't offer him some shrooms at a party to get him on the road to junkieville that has to be a friend of his. perhaps they should be more worried about where he managed to buy all those drugs from.

but nevertheless is still tragic that it happened.

p.s. looks like the chatlogs are now gone and there are affiliate links to funlesbians.com in their place to 'support bandwidth costs' without even a link to his own homepage w/ obituary and guestbook. thats made me a little suspicious. check http://pages.sbcglobal.net/oea/ripper.html to see what i mean...
