LIVE AUCTION.. Your Ideas

We really want to get the Live Auctions back up and running.. for that to happen we really need some input on what it will take for everyone to participate.

So just add your ideas.. here are some of mine

PM all members 1 day before Auction ...to remind everyone.

Possibly have extension speciality auctions.. one week the live auctions may be for say .Info's , then .Nets , then .Org etc..

If you are a buyer and are shopping for .Nets ..then you can mark on your calendar "x" week and know that you dont have to wade through all the other junk to get a few .Nets you are looking at.

As a seller in .Nets week then you know you should have a targeted market of .Net buyers ..

Maybe have it so that .com is joined each week with a differnt extension ..

Week 1 .com and .net
Weeek 2 .com and .org
Week 3 .com and .Biz

etc...




Do we want auctions once a week ? bi-weekly - monthly ?


So throw your ideas in ..lets see what we can come up with..

1) .com and another ext together is a good idea.

2) Auction reminder by PM would be great.

3) All $1 start with invisible reserve, as most normal auctions.

4) "Judge(s)" to remove domains set at unrealistic reserve.

5) Try every 2 weeks first of all to see how it goes.

Invisible reserve.. I like that!

Ideas sound very good. I do not like the invisible reserve for two reasons:

1. The reserve amount can be unrealistic.
2. Extends the length of the live auction with the potential of no one winning those names.

We need direct advertising of the auction / auction link itself maybe one week before hand on the index of DNF until the auction starts. Those that are new to the site wont go looking for an auction link - so show them as soon as they enter the forums.

Umm..

Well I am strongly in favor of at least a PM alert the day before for the Auctions.

Possibly a Live Auction countdown timer ..mayby a small javascript that would sit a sa sticky on the Live Auction Category ! ?

Also need it in the Newsletter.
