I once had to delete a name due to a legal representative contacting me. Inside of my Moniker account, I chose delete and to this day it still is being renewed and whois says Moniker Disputed names.
I think they hold on to them and park them with their service.

are you sure the "legal representative" was genuine?
it looks strange that the "legal representative" never contacted moniker as well....and the domain is parked for moniker to profit.
what keeps moniker for faking "legal representative" emails to bully domain owners, and when the domain owner gets scared, they just keep and park the domain?
I'm not saying they actually do this, but you have to admit that this is looking strange .7000 disputed names?

Personally, I researched who was contacting me and it was indeed a lawyer for a known celebrity. I am not fooled by the many scams there are and this was the one time I actually felt it right to delete the name. Later to find out Moniker holds on to them only made me upset. Oh well. I would of rather took a $7 loss then take my chances.
I too would like to see an official response from Moniker about why they keep deleted domains that users specifically go into their account and click delete.

I think these names are the names that have had dubious whois changes in the past and are believed to be stolen. Not sure though. Provider is right. We should wait for someone from Moniker to clear this out

Moniker Disputed names are names in dispute either through WIPO/UDRP/TM or other legal issues. Or they are names turned over by customers that feel that they violate the above is some way. These domains are put in a special holding account pending legal actions while we protect the registrant through the process. The names generally die their natural death upon expiration.

Please point me to a Registrar that drops domains via a full drop cycle. Most work with drop-catching services of others, of their own, or even retain domains with traffic indefinitely.

yes the natural death is the normal registration and expiration period. Because we do support many other services for our customers, we watch our drop/add/check ratios very carefully. This is one reason we have never had an issue with the registries or with complainants in legal cases.

no - most DNS is left alone and still benefits the registrant if they choose. other DNS is turned off. it depends on the domain, the registrant, and the circumstances. Do not jut make assumptions and accusations as they are not valid.

they may have been privacy names so we continue to protect the registrant unless ordered not to or if the owner does not cooperate. sometimes placing it in the disputed account addresses the issue with the complainant.
names can be deleted if just registered within the 4 day grace period on our system.
