Hello All......

I heard a banging then a yell while sleeping, I jump up run down the steps seen a big chunk of hair and then a pool of blood, I seen it coming from a big cut all the way into the bone on her head. I grab a rag put it to her head, put her head up and told her to hold it there, run up the steps phoned 911.

Grab my boots and went back down to see how she was, the bleeding had slowed down to almost stopping, the EM's got here and took over and got her to the hospital, and they checked everything out. She seemed to be doing ok the whole time then the doctor said, some techy stuff that sounded like, she had creaked 2 disc in her neck to me.

He then said she had to go to a trauma unit about 50 miles away to be checked, so they took her there I followed them, the doctor said she broke her neck in 2 places one was creaked the other broke off. But nothing needed to be fixed as far as a operation, and that everything should heal 100%, and that she would need a hard neck brace and should be able to come home in a few days.

I asked about the disc he said they was fine that there was nothing wrong with them, boy I thanked god after the doctor told me she would be ok, she called me this morning and sounded back to her self. I asked if she was having any pain she said no very little, she should be coming home monday after being checked by the doctor.

I told her well she could now tell everyone she had a broke neck, but she would have to wear a hard neck brace, until it healed all the way and that it doesn't heal as fast as other bones. She said she tripped, and from what I could see she tumbled from the top to the bottom of the steps, the steps have a turn at the bottom, and she was sitting past that when I got down there.

I'm just glad she is ok, things could of been way worst that is for sure. :)

You have bad luck. Didn't your house burn down a few years ago? Or your daughter's house?

My mom's house burned down, they lost everything to the fire then.

I have to get a spine operation done this fall my self, my neurosurgeon wanted me to do it now but I wanted to have the summer, I have myelopathy at C5-7 and C6-7 disc it's pushing/cutting into my spinal cord nerves about 1/2 way right now. My neurosurgeon told me there will be bad damage soon, my other disc are going out in my neck as well so as they go I'll have to go back for them.

It's a catch 22 for me and my options have now run out, they will pull C-5-6 & C6-7 to stabilize my spine and put bone where the disc was, and screw a plate over them to hold them in place till they fuse. But that will put 2X the pressure on disc C4-5, and it's blown out and close to touching my spinal cord already, the others are blown but not as bad I also got blown disc in my back.

I hope she recovers quick.y - neck / back injuries can be very scary.

Tell her that she should, on a regular basis, wiggle all 10 fingers, her hands, and the same with her toes and feet. If at any time she can't wiggle any of them for a minute or two, call someone in ASAP.

As for head injuries, they're always a lot worse than they look. I guess it's because your body is trying harder to pump blood into your head (against gravity) plus the blood needed to help your brain run. Tons of blood for a small cut is not uncommon.

sorry to hear this, take care of yourself and your gf, it may all seem bad but there was some luck in your favour there too... make the best of what you have and hold on, there are worst outcomes that could have taken place from your story as I was reading it I actually thought it had an okay endiing compared to what it was looking like it was going to be.

its sucks she fell, but she is alive and she is coming home. Some people don't get second chances... make the most of them.

thoughts are with you

Take Care
Stewie :)

Keep hanging in there Tim. I believe luck, good or bad, runs in cycles and sometimes good things will start happening when you least expect them. It sounds like you're overdue for a change....never give up hope.

I will always hang in there, these kinds of things make us stronger to get through them.

She was very upbeat when I went to see her today, hopefully the doctor will let her come home tomorrow as everything is going well, she was starting to get that she had to wear the hard brace a while. Still very little pain she said, only if she try's to roll over, it hurts a little but other then that it didn't hurt much at all.

She said she is more worried about my neck, I told her things could go very wrong till her neck is healed right, she was trying to move her head to much when I was there.
