Let's say I m looking at a one word .com domain name with an Alexa ranking of 3million, no apparent live links or type-ins. Let's say 5-9 letters word.com

Would this type of name raise an eyebrow among any of you at reg price? I repeat REG price no more than that!

Trying to get the hang of this, sorry I dont have a real name to throw out.

I have a one 3 letter word (none English) with an Alexia ranking of: "Avg. Traffic Rank: 3,151,836"

Few would value it at over $30 - glad my neice likes it, other than that Alexa is not a yard stick in any way.

IPaltas, think of alexa as an average reference guide, don't take their reults seriously. A lot of domains i have looked up contradict other link popularity sites.
Also i have many domains that show no links and have ranks of 1.5M, but they get huge type ins.
in short, Alexa should not influence you in reging or buying a domain :)

alexa is horrible and not accurate at all..

Also when you type a word in Google and you see in the upper right hand corner 700,000 hits or whatever.ALL that means is thats how many time that word or phrase you typed in shows up in web pages...NOT how many pople are searhing for it...

If anything that number would represent your competition!

goto inventory while it also has it's flaws will give you a much "fairer" reflection of actual searchs..

and Lycos top 50

and googles adword

remember these are only tools...not the last word...but used corectly will give you a good idea of the size of your market.
