OpusDNS has announced the acquisition of fruits.co, the domain sales and monetization platform founded in Germany and known for its fast growth in the domain aftermarket.

The announcement was published on May 20, 2026, with OpusDNS stating that it had acquired the domain monetization platform fruits.co. The company described the deal as a move toward combining registrar infrastructure, domain management, sales and monetization in one connected ecosystem.

OpusDNS said the combined business now represents several million domains. The company also said both platforms will remain operational and independently managed, while benefiting from shared expertise, a focused product strategy and faster product development.

Fabian Heuschele, CEO and co-founder of fruits, also confirmed the news in his own LinkedIn announcement. He wrote that OpusDNS had already invested in fruits and that “joining forces became the obvious next step.” He added that fruits will continue to operate independently and that the full team remains on board.

This is an important move for the domain industry because OpusDNS is a recently launched registrar and domain management platform, while fruits has quickly become one of the more visible European domain aftermarket platforms.

OpusDNS launched in October 2025 and has positioned itself as an open, API-first registrar platform for resellers, hosting companies and domain professionals. IANA’s registrar list shows OpusDNS GmbH as an ICANN-accredited registrar under registrar ID 4340.

fruits, meanwhile, has grown rapidly as a domain marketplace and monetization platform. Domain Name Wire reported in December 2025 that fruits had reached 2.6 million domains, up from around one million a year earlier. fruits has also promoted major sales including Fanbase.com at $431,400 and TXT.com above $500,000.

The strategic fit is clear. OpusDNS brings registrar infrastructure, DNS management, portfolio tools and monetization technology. fruits brings sales landers, marketplace operations, domain parking, VAT-aware transaction handling and a large base of aftermarket domain listings.

Has OpusDNS fully bought Fruits?

Based on the public information available, OpusDNS has clearly announced an acquisition of fruits.co. However, the exact legal and financial structure has not been disclosed publicly.

The companies have not stated whether this was a 100% share acquisition, an asset acquisition, a majority investment, or another transaction structure. For that reason, the safest wording is:

OpusDNS has acquired fruits.co, but the exact transaction structure has not been publicly disclosed.

There is also an interesting legal/operational detail: fruits’ current Terms list the platform operator as get fruits GmbH at Franz-Mayer-Str. 1, 93053 Regensburg, which is the same address used by OpusDNS GmbH. However, the fruits Legal Notice still shows fruits GmbH in Munich with Fabian Heuschele as the authorised representative. This may suggest that public documentation is still being updated, or that different entities are used for different parts of the business.

Why this matters for domain investors

For domain investors, the acquisition could become significant if OpusDNS uses fruits as its integrated aftermarket and monetization layer. That could potentially mean deeper registrar integration, more portfolio tools, new parking options, improved sales landers, and better distribution for domain sellers.

For now, OpusDNS and fruits are presenting the deal as a growth move rather than a shutdown or replacement of the fruits platform. The fruits brand appears set to continue, and the team remains involved.

What DNForum members should watch next

  • Will fruits listings become more deeply integrated into OpusDNS registrar and reseller tools?
  • Will OpusDNS use fruits as its default sales and monetization layer?
  • Will commission, payout, VAT handling, parking, LTO or sales lander terms change?
  • Will the fruits brand remain independent long-term?
  • Will OpusDNS or fruits later disclose whether this was a full share acquisition or another structure?

For now, this looks like one of the more interesting European domain infrastructure and aftermarket deals of 2026.
