OTM is a software package made to manage PBX systems, it seems new since the UI is so crude, it reminds me of PHPMyAdmin for DB administration.
I was trying to get someone's phone line punched down (for some odd reason someone pulled the wires out of both ends).
I checked OTM and according to that, the TN (terminal number) didn't exist (it was something like 08-37, which our terminals only go from 00 to 29).
I trace the jack back to the punch down board and it is a completely different TN (row and port are both different). This is odd.
So, I do some checking. I checked two phones in adjacent cubes. Neither had the TN match (both had the right row but the port numbers were off, not by a matching number) and their DNs (directory number / extension) were also off.
I dial the DN that shows on their phone and it connects me to them but doesn't show their name but when I dial what OTM shows it does not connect.
I think the PBX system is completely FUBAR. I know for a fact that previous IT people handled moves in a way they shouldn't have.
Instead of going into OTM and deactivating the old line then setting up the new line with the same DN and information (except TN etc..) as the old line, they just pulled the wires out of the terminal block from where they hooked up to the old cube and plugged them into where the new one is.
My lead has synced the PBX but it has not resolved the issue. I have a friend who went though something similar and we was fixing his office's PBX system from 8AM to midnight in a single day an it wasn't completely done.
Any thoughts?
