.pro domains worth buying? Looking at a few but not sure if they are as popular as some other tlds

Personally, I don't think so.

Most domainers label .pro as a disaster, but it really depends if you are able to get one, you need to be qualified to register one, terrible reseller market.

Depends on the quality of the names and how well you'd put them to use.

That's true for 3rd-level .PROs, which are pretty restricted.
