question about spam

i have always wondered about this- how come in spam i get stuff at the end like this:

this had nothing to do with the spam content itself- this happens alot- some stupid poem or crap at the end- i dont get it- what function does it have?

Do you actually read the spam emails? Gmail takes good care of them.
