Hi guys,

Well, my old laptop just died (Acer Ferrari 4005), so it's time to get a new one.

I found my old laptop (15.4") was a bit big to bring around so I am looking at something smaller and longer battery life. I generally do not play video games, but will be using it for software (programming, graphics, etc). So nothing extremely intensive, but I will probably be using multiple progarms at a time (eg: photoshop, dreamweaver, itunes, etc).

I am looking at the 13" macbooks, with about 2.0ghz processor and 2gbs of ram. I have heard good things about the mac, and the small size is appealing. Just wondering if a mac will be able to run the programs I mentioned (Although I cannot see any reason it wouldn't).

Also, it is possible to triple boot a mac right? (macosx, linux, windows). Appreciate all input, thanks.

Get that mac. The new operating system out in April has BootCamp already loaded so you can install Windows and OSX. Quality.

get an IBM thinkpad with all the bells and whistles..they are bulletproof

If you get a thinkpad you miss out on the free Apple ilife software; GarageBand, iMovies, iDVD, iCal, iTunes etc etc. I'm sure they are nice machines but wouldn't you rather have the best of both Mac OS and Windows XP? Plus you get the solt-loading DVD drive on the mac. Not sure if you have that on the thinkpad.

I have a Macbook and previously had a Del Inspiron. I liked the Dell better - much faster for me. I also owned AAPL stock.

Mac OS is creative where Windows is a workhorse.

A good bud just bought a new mac that has the capability of both windows and MAC OS...and traded...and traded...and traded. Something up with it and he is on his forth one now (maybe the fifth???). All brand new, all free replacements, all with some user interface issues and having something to do with a faulty chipsets???

He has and always will use a MAC including a sweet desktop (love their menus) but he is getting fed up with this one. Service is great, he reports, as well as MAC support but even the local rep is recommending he wait for this new release rather than the add ons.
