Silly question

I've seen people reply to their own thread as the first reply of the topic to 'bump' it up and it shows up as a whole new reply.

But when I do it the reply gets added to the main topic if no reply has been made.

How come it does that for me and not for others?

its a hack on the forum, you can only make a new message 8 hours or more after your last post in that thread

if you wait more than 8 hours, bump will work...

you shouldnt be bumping threads that quickly anyways
