software to extract urls from text

People post auctions and domain lists in the oddest ways, is there a piece of software that extracts domains from copied text?

Also anyone recommend a link checking programing using such domain lists.

I guess I could whip up something in PHP - but I wanted to be lazy

DNChecker EDM can check domains in any format.

txt files, html pages, xls files, doc files etc..

after it extracts the domain names, it the finds the whois information.
