So thankful for Community Feedback that the Thread has to be Killed?

In other words - you have had enough and are no longer open to feedback?

Please clarify your message - do you Want or Not Want Feedback in the Feedback Section?????

I'll save my post to the now Closed (yet seemingly appropriately titled) 'Mod Overkill' Thread [http://www.dnforum.com/f79/mod-overkill-thread-370984.html] for another time.

PS: Is this Post too much feedback which beggits the closing of this Thread too?

PPS: I appreciate your time to clarify your community spirit, or what-have-you.

[Note: I guess on top of the examples given in the Sticky Thread at the top of this Forum [http://www.dnforum.com/f79/do-not-send-pm-mods-admins-thread-358913.html] re: Reason thread was closed - 'For Giving Feeback' can now be added as well. :S ]

That thread has 124 replies and 1,577 views in about two days.
Most active thread recently.

Perhaps thread is closed because most new posts are repeating what's already said?

personally i think the modding is top notch here, however i just noticed this thread was killed, look at reason and look at title
plain stupidity killing that imho
http://www.dnforum.com/f109/orjy-com-rare-4-letter-adult-thread-371260.html#post1723815

having to add , or (.) to thread titles is a pain in ass , and doesnt work to stop indexing
domainers should be protected from getting domains indexed

i suggest adding facility to each sales thread to add the tld

so a drop down box offering .com, .co.uk etc

other forums have this
it would save mods time, save domainers time, save domainers having old threads indexed when they want sales and listings private etc

domainers have been bringing this point about indexing up time AND TIME AGAIN

needs to be resolved. i think my idea is best imho:cool:

would stop this silliness, as it is a silly rule. its meant so people can see what domain is for sale. to stop a thread like this , following the letter of the rule is stupid. i think everyone would agree on this. looking at the example i give

come on sort this out

That would have been my guess too! However, it wasn't the only one closed as the PM notification is being tested out for closed threads. It will be back open in a few minutes.....GEEZ you guys are fast!

You can whip a dead horse but it ain't getting up and run.

I think there was many rehashing the same points over and over.

After a while, the message and the points get lost.

Personally, I thought it was a very productive thread.

My frustration comes from not knowing precisely where to put stuff and then having it moved. And having threads closed with no notice.

Because of that thread, I started looking closely at the structure of the forum as it is now. Very category and sub-category heavy. If you look at the structure now and think about what new extensions are in the works, then how on earth will anyone be able to find the proper place for anything.

It is a matter of trimming the fat, getting more streamlined, and making the entire processes easier for not only members but also the mods and admin.

I agree and think it's time to adopt the "less is more" as far as all these sub forums are concerned. No doubt, we need to trim some done and are beginning to work on it.

No big deal, it's open now so post away

I believe the other thread was closed because we now have enough information from members that the staff needed to come up with a solution.

I can see the only issue was avoiding indexing from the search engines. I would blame VBulletin for not making the script smart enough to understand the needs:
- When we list the name(s) for sale, we want people from 50 states and 147 countries to know that they are for sale - There are several occasions that we received offers from non-members and closed the sale.

- When we are done with the sale (whether the name is sold or not), we don't want anyone to know about the sale!!!!

So some days we need the indexing from the search engines and other days we do not want the search engines to know.

Hang on - we will talk among us and will come up with something soon. Blame Vbulletin for the time being.

But I think that is how you state whether you are agreeing with the point brought up in the thread...by posting...even though it may seem repetitive it is the only way your name can be seen stating your opinion.Closing it just means that you can't agree or disagree publicly with the point/s being made. Just my observation..;)

I understand Jay, however, as stated above, it was only closed to test out the PM notification system and a PM was sent to the OP letting him know that.

What better thread to test it on is the way I looked at it. Regardless it was closed for less than hour I believe, along with other threads I randomly picked, while the system was worked on.

Most of the posts there are very constructive and will push us to make DNF a better place for members and staff. No system is perfect but we try our best around here.

The original complaint for starting another thread, this one, was that the Mod Overkill thread was closed, it's been open since noon-ish, post away!

I can see the only issue was avoiding indexing from the search engines.

That is just a symptom of the real problem.

The real problem is members who joined this forum and paid for memberships/upgrades/etc in good faith that the reasons for getting memberships were going to be provided and that maybe....every once in awhile that our requests would be acted upon when told that "you're right...this is in progress..." and then actually seeing progress is a different story 95% of the time.

Adam & DNF staff, I love you guys but sometimes it seems the DNF staff has too much on their plate in order to serve the needs of DNF like it deserves. The growth, value and integrity of these forums ultimately lies in staff hands.

No worries...I got that Chuck :eek:k:...I was just having a conversation within a conversation presenting copper with an alternative to his view that it was closed for people reiterating points of view/comments.

A) If DNF wanted to 'test' a PM function - then some common sense to close a Thread from 2005 which no one has updated in years instead of this weeks hottest thread would have made more sense - so I will just fill in the blanks myself on the rest. Thanks for the confusion thou! PS: ...and if that were the case Admin - why Not Write that in the Reason Thread Closed section?

B) A re-iteration of a point in a thread, for me, is a concurrence/vote in favour to said point - adding weight to the point - and thus good information as to whether there is value in following-up on such points. In a dictatorship thou, I understand how such community input becomes moot.

C) Staff can't come-up with solutions while a Thread Remains open?? :S

D) Common sense needs to be common practice - this is not Rocket Surgery Here.

E) It's unfortunate Huseyin is no longer with DNF, as, imho, he was the best person here (with all due respect to those I don't know or have never met) - but being constantly short-changed on staff and resources has always plagued DNFs customer services and community stewardship. I wish him all the best, and hope DNF learns from it's mistakes. I believe we all know the definition of repeating mistakes to be insane.

F) I also agree - Integrity and Growth are in the hands of the Actions of the Staff which Speaks Louder than the Words they Post. (...which applies to everyone on the Planet in general, but in this specific case, DNF staffers).

G) PENGUINS RULE!! :p 2009 Stanley Cup Champs! GO Pens GO!! ;)

Really no need to justify every single step that's made behind the scene's and being worked on here. The answer was given, why try to skew it again and make it appear that I was not being truthful? Thanks so much for the vote of confidence!

Actually the customer service end is running much better now, not because Huseyin is gone, but because of the way we are handling it. Therefore, I totally disagree with you!

No doubt there are things that need to change going forward and we are working on that.
