This is an interesting article, but I found the last paragraph especially amusing...

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tm.../ap/20040421/ap_on_hi_te/computer_speed_limit

"Certainly we are not going to start packaging linear accelerators into hard disk drives . . . "

I can see the advertisements now:

"Pissed off at your neighbor? Now YOU can get even. Imagine making an enriched plutonium pipebomb from the comfort of your own office. Our newest technology puts a linear accelerator right in your hard drive. You can easily make A-bombs while you are surfing the web. SPECIAL OFFER: For the first 1,000,000 callers, we will include absolutely FREE, FIVE free hydrogen bomb fuses for your A-Bombs. Quantity discounts available for radical and disgruntled muslim groups. Act now. Call 1-800-ACCELRATOR-HD for your free information kit. Price is only $999,999.95 plus shipping and handling."

LOL

Too Funny.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if the current Nasa mission is successful, then couldn't they implement the ability to slow down time to "increase" the speed for many applications, including this?.
