I've been getting a ton of email containing worms/viruses today. According to a few people at WHT, it's also happening to them.

For me, one common subject seems to be "Delivery Status Notification (Failure)". I've had various file sizes, ranging between 32KB and 150kb.

I assume its the same worm/virus that norton has listed as high threat on their website.

Me too, a ton of email overnight - thanks again for Mailwasher.

Maybe helpful to post a Symantec link:-

http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/[email protected]

Email characteristics:

From: Random, spoofed email address, many mailer-daemon and postmaster - return types.

Subject: Random

Text: Various, including:

· The message cannot be represented in 7-bit ASCII encoding and has been sent as a binary attachment.

· The message contains Unicode characters and has been sent as a binary attachment.

· Mail transaction failed. Partial message is available.

Attached file: Various, extensions including .exe, .pif, .cmd, .scr. The attachment often arrives in a zip archive, and is also represented by what appears to be a text file icon, but is in fact an executable.

McAfee has been very quick with their auto-updates - got my new virus definitions right away

I've been getting pounded

I got a ton more this morning. Whats weird is I got some on new email accounts that have not been shown much at all.

What really bugs me is that now I'm getting all sorts of emails from institutions complaining that I'm sending them virus emails when its just my server bouncing theirs back!

I got hit by the Worm and the Blaster yesterday....
