I'm like Raider and Azooza... park and hold... we are at the cusp of a great domain boom if you ask me. Its been several months now since i sold a domain, not because of lack of offers but because i think its too early in the game to be selling (unless its an offer you cant refuse). I spent some good money this year buying names, renewing them for several years and plan on just sitting on them for a bit. Once you let that baby go, that's an asset you may never get back.

I think real active marketing really only works for top notch names.
Its worth the time to find an end user if you own a great generic like refinancing.com or usedcars.com, but garbage like .biz or even stuff like mygreencar.com is a total waste of time. Sometimes its worth is to put some effort into finding an end user for LLL.coms, those searches are pretty straight forward, but even there for combos with bad letters I wouldnt bother. I have never really looked for end users for my LLL.coms, because I am sure some companies with those letters might be interested but would not pay more than reseller prices, and to find that one company that will be so motivated to do so will probably contact you anyway, which really strengthens your position in negotiations.

When sending email make sure that you are not using free email: gmail, hotmail, etc... as they will be in the spam folder.

Draft the email and check for all grammars and spelling. Also, include a phone number and a business address to assure them that you are professional.

i do list my phone #, but not my adress in correspondence. why? because i work out of my apartment, and i don't think that an apartment # looks very professional as a business address.

I view Johnn's approach as "less of a spamming", if that is possible, being that it is personalized.

It tends to add legitimacy to the offer instead of just giving a company name or one's first name. I get tons of those.

Someone(s) is notifying me of every extension available for each domain I have, I am getting spammed by registrars to renew my domain names even though I don't have my domains with them, and the Chinese are to the point of almost overloading my in box. That's spamming.

Speaking of which, I got an email on RegistryFly's header yesterday reminding me to renew 4 domains I had with them.
