Hi guys, I am in the market for a higher end laptop. I will be using it in school as well as for some games.

I am debating either the:

Dell Inspiron 9300 vs Ferrarri 4005

The dell is a 17" at 9lbs
the Ferrarri notebook is 15" at 6lbs

I think the dell is slighly better preformer in games, but is it worth the extra weight?

you could've got the Dell 9300 with very decent specs for around $775 last week

ACER AMERICA Ferrari 4005WLMi - AMD Turion64 Mobile 2.0GHz - 1GB RAM - 100GB HDD - integrated DVD-Super Multi double-layer drive - 15.4in WSXGA+(1680x1050) - Win XP Pro

To me my 15.4" wide screen is better than my old laptop with a 17" screen, It is lighter runs longer, and the AMD is much better for gaming.

IMHO, Ferrari. I've never liked Dell, sorry. Not a big fan. :)

Really? The one I was looking at with the specs I wanted ended up at about $2,600 CND

You guys think the ferrarri 4005 can run BattleField2?

I know the 9300 can run it pretty smoothly

Although I am not a huge fan of Dell, I have the 9300 Loaded and it is incredibly fast. I am a structural engineer and use it for Cad/Cam applications. The 17" screen is definitly an upgrade from my old laptop with a 14" screen.

Dell has coupons almost every week for their notebook computers. Recent coupons include the $750 off $1499 deal or the 40% off deal for notebooks $1599 and higher. Dell's prices are what make Dell my preferred choice when it comes to laptops. A good place to check for these deals is at www.slickdeals.net
