wifi- evdo

does wi just stand for wireless? like, if companies switched over to evdo over time like verizon- and wifi became much less utilized- if you had a site that was like wime.com (example, not mine) would that be dumb to have? or will "wi" just always mean wireless?

evdo is a cellular technonlgy whereas wifi is just a point to multipoint.
cdma evdo is an old technology, new is 2,5G edge and 3G hspda (well in oz anyways), but wifi will always be wifi which is more of a LAN technology.
However here in oz we are starting to see alot of rollout of wideband wireless internet (not cellular) which is where I think the future will be.
