...what do you think about names beginning or ending with ww as in wwcruises.com or cruisesww.com is there any value in such names if targetting a big industry, or are they just good for developing a portal and using to earn extra by including affiliate links etc ?...

personally, i think they fail to have any significant meaning.

wwcruises looks like it should have been www.cruises and cruisesww just looks clunky - like an afterthought domain where you couldn't get anything useful.

Some names beginning with www do receive some type-ins by those forgetting the "." but I'm not sure how well they sell.

never bothered with the WW or WWW domains myself, consider them all worthless.

agree with the comments above, likely to also be very confusing for visitors and difficult to remember.

That's not a good idea.

...Thanks very much for your comments I nearly registered wwcuisine.com carsww.com and travelww.com...

Quackback [ that's like a flashback ]

It was an innovation to remove the need for 'www' preceeding your Internet destination. A couple of years ago some speculators registered tons of these 'www' names - all generic too. However, they soon found their way to Ebay, where their auctions went largely ignored. Some months ago, I began to see them expire.

They are confusing.

quack :D

surprisingly, these were registered

wwwsex.com
wwwsex.net
wwwsex.org

wwsex.com
wwsex.net

wwwcomputer.com
wwwcomputer.net

wwcomputer.com
wwcomputer.net

if wwwsex.com gets %0.1 traffic of sex.com, it's worth something.

i typed in alot of names wwwgames.. etc. seems to be very popular to register name like that

...I was thinking more of ww rather than www as in

worldWide Cruises.com or Cruises WorldWide (wwcruises.com and cruisesww.com which are developed websites) wwcars.com exists but carsww.com (cars world wide) is available to register, I was thinking more on those terms than www*.com... all the same, very interesting comments...
