Hi

I recently acquired a decent name that is getting fair traffic. Most of the traffic is coming from sub-domains under the main domain from various links on the web. I want to develop this site but no not want to miss out on the traffic. What must i add to my html to make sure i am getting all the traffic re-directed to my main url? Example:

http://www.mydomain/moredomains/145.html

I want all the traffic to get redirected to http://www.mydomain.com
so i do not miss out on the hits.

I am sure i just need to put a simple redirect command in my index.html page, i am just not sure what that is???

Any help appreciated. Hope i explained this correctly.

not sure what code you use but I would put a redirect to the home page in your 404 file not found page...

that way whenever a page is not found on your site they are taken to your home page.

this would cover any potential links that point to a specific area.

If you go to the www.sitepoint.com forums i am sure you would get an exact response on how to put this in place

Ciq's suggestion is the best, as it catches all 404 errors.

Alternatively, I am not sure what DNS servers you are using, but if you have an account at www.mydomain.com, they offer free redirection. You can create forwarding based on subdirectories too.

Thanks - I am aware of mydomain and have used it many times. This particular domain I will be developing so I will be placing it on a virtual server. I will review the 404 redirect idea. I thought there was a simple code you could place on the index.html page to automatically pick up your sub directories. MAybe i am wrong,
